After going to #rebcclt a little over a week ago, one of the things on my 'ToDo List' was going to a Meet-Up. Tonight I had the chance to go to my first... It was a WordPress user group.
I actually ended up instructing. Most of the group were putting up their first WordPress blogs. A couple had put up blogs, but were having issues making them do what they wanted. Ken, the guy that put the group together helped the people that were setting up their blogs. I took over helping the people that were having issues.
It was a lot of fun.
I was able to accomplish several things.
- I met a handful of new people i would have otherwise not run into...
- I learned some of my limits in WordPress...
- I was able to help some people out pretty well...
- I got to mention the Social Media Breakfast coming up in July...
I have already decided on a couple more Meet-Up groups I will be participating in over the next month. I might also have to start some meetings on this side of town. I can see from the lists of groups people are looking for that there is a need for a couple of groups in Gwinnett County.
