Home inspections standards do not include inspection or testing for radon. This is NOT something that is generally considered to be of concern in most areas of Oregon’s south coast. Local environmental testing and mitigation specialists do not normally consider it necessary. In my opinion, if a home inspector in this area is actively promoting radon testing and offering to do it for a fee, it could be motivated more by increasing their bottom line than by protecting their clients. After considering all available information, if you are still concerned about radon testing it can be done as an additional service.
