A little bit about Conyers...
Rockdale County is a fast growing and dynamic suburban community located 24 miles east of Atlanta on Interstate 20. It is about 130 square miles in size - the second smallest of Georgia's 159 counties. Conyers is the only incorporated city in Rockdale County.
Conyers has a very "family-friendly" community that is appealing to parents who want a safe, wholesome and progressive environment in which to raise their children.
With one of the top school systems in the state and the nation, education is another drawing point to this close-knit community. Rockdale's students consistently rank very high among their peers in the state and metro area on skills tests. There are 11 elementary schools, three middle schools, three high schools and a brand new career academy. The level of communication between the school and the parents is extraordinary. The technology is superior.
The housing market in Conyers is a little more competitive than many other counties in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. The land is more plentiful and less expensive. One of the biggest perks of living in Rockdale County is the lower than average property taxes. Rockdale has some of the lowest property taxes in the State of Georgia!
Employment is also growing. Established businesses are relocating to Rockdale County. AT&T has recently chosen this quiet community as one of its corporate locations.
The population of Rockdale County is just comfortably over 75,000.
With its community spirit, Conyers and Rockdale County earned the opportunity to host the 1996 Olympic Equestrian, Mountain Biking and Two Modern Pentathlon events. A local site encompassing more than 1,200 acres was selected for the Georgia International Horse Park, which served as the equestrian venue and is now a permanent regional recreational complex. The Arnold Palmer-designed golf course Cherokee Run was completed at the same time.
Conyers draws many visitors to the community for recreation. Conyers has over 15 parks for recreation that offer activities including soccer, football, baseball, tennis, softball, swimming, basketball, golf, cross country running, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. An active Senior Citizens program and Arts Council add to the recreational opportunities in Conyers.
