                                                fire

Today, I went to a cookout/bonfire about 25 minutes outside of Kenosha. I knew a few people there, but for the most part it was all my husband's co-workers and their friends. I had been at the party for about an hour when someone asked how the "real estate business was going". When I concluded with my answer to this question, a gentleman across the fire spoke up and said, "So, you're also a Realtor?". As it turns out he is also a real estate agent in Kenosha.

It just struck me that you never know where you might meet a fellow colleague, or perhaps a future client! Something to think about the next time that you go out....

Along the same lines...

In junior high, there were two guys that were the "popular guys" in our class (Sean and Jeremiah). After junior high, I went to a different high school a few towns away. For the most part (despite good intentions and year book promises to keep in touch) I lost contact with all my junior high classmates.

A few months ago, my brother moved out of my parents house, and his roommate is Jeremiah (they met in college). We now play on the same volleyball team.

As for Sean, well, I ran into him about five years ago, but haven't seen him since. However, his dad is one of the owners of a large custom home building company near my office.

For me these are great reminders to think before you act/speak, and don't burn any bridges. When I was sitting in History Class back in 7th grade, I never thought that those people could have an impact on my life/career years later!!

Kristy, absolutely true and a really good reason to be careful what you say.

Right Kristy...it's always a good idea to be open and approachable and someone people remember with fondness. Good networking.

People remember the lady who gives the "too much change" back at the register, who puts the shopping cart in the correct spot instead of leaving it in the parking lot in front of another car, who tips well, and who says hello to the neighbors. We have chances to make impressions EVERY day.

Truth said. Always think about where you are going. The future is always a derivative of where you've been or what you've learned from the past. It sounds like you have a great head on your shoulders and value what people think of you. In this business you will go far have many referrals and be very successful. Good Luck. Happy Selling.

Very true - also true about who's driving behind you in traffic, or sitting next to you at a traffic light, or in a grocery line.  That guy behind you may just be on his way to your office to see you... Embarrassed

It's amazing how life moves in circles.  People will move in, and out of your circles many times over; especially in a small town.  As you say it's best not to burn your bridges.......  Good advice.  It's also amazing what a smile can do for you.  I was in Costco today, my mind swirling with too many thoughts and the fellow at the door must have noticed how preoccupied I was and made a point of giving me a big smile and a greeting.  I was immediately transformed into a happy, smiling person, (which most times I am anyway) from the probably frowning person I was at that instant.  So remember share those smiles, they are contagious!
