Just a statement

My father was someone I thought was very special.  Now I guess we can all say that about our dads.  Although my father has not been with me for 15 years now, I still hear his voice guiding me, laughing with and at me, supporting me and always encouraging me.  I still miss him so very much and I guess I will until I'm not here any longer.  I raised my children on "Dadisums."

With Father's Day close at hand I thought I would share one of them with all of you.  It seems to be so true.  It's sad, but it is true.

"You are only as good as what you did TODAY."  So I always try to do my best each and every day.

I would love it if you would share with the rest of us what you remember from your father that has stayed with you until now.  Let's see if we can enlighten each other via our Dads.

Hi Roberta..I like you have not had my Dad around for some time, in fact since 1969. You are correct when you say you remember their words, Yes sometimes daily.

Lets remember our Dads and take a moment on Fathers Day to remember all their Advice and Fun stuff we did with them. Thanks for Sharing:O)

Fred Hi,

It's funny, when I am about to make a big decision I can hear my fathers voice telling what I should do.  Now keep in mind when I was younger I didn't always listen to him,  and then wished I had.  What I would give to have the time to sit down and talk to him again.

Yes, for some of us Fathers Day is a time to remember all thing great and beautiful they brought into our lives,

Thanks for stopping by and commenting Fred, have a great day. Cowgirl

My father lived honesty, integrity, and frugality. A great example for me to model my life by and he died many years ago also.

Scott,

Thank you for stopping by and commenting.

I have a different philosophy on children than most people do.  I never thought the children I had were "MINE". I felt that God had loaned them to me to teach, guide, protect, nurture and ready them for adulthood.  I did all of this to the very best of my ability.  Will we make mistakes? Of course, we are human, but with God's help my children have turned out to be great people.  My youngest one had to have a couple of LIFE'S lessons to really learn about frugality, but he's doing great now. :)

In my opinion parents of today take the easy way out.  They want to be friends, pals and give their children everything in the world.  Being a family counselor I have found that children want to have guidelines, work for what they get and to be disciplined once in a while.  Mind you this comes from the children I worked with. All of the above says love and caring to them.  As parents we have lost our way. In the long run the real losers are the young adults of today who not only do not know how to swim in this economic storm, they can hardly dog paddle.

Hi Dan,

You are soooo right! I love the saying, "As long as you remember me, I will live on." As long as we take the best of what the person was we are always paying tribute to them.

Thanks for stoping by and commenting, I do appreciate it.  Have a great Sunday.

Robert,

Yes, and yes, and yes.  But don't you have to stop and think when you start sounding like your dad to your children?  I have! lol

Thanks for stopping by and commenting and sharing your thoughts.

Scary at times isn't it?  And yet, in a lot of ways very comforting. My father was one of two most important people in my life.  I would not be who I am except for him.
