Economics Lesson: Socialism will never work ...

Since my Degree is in Economics, I love this stuff:

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before but had once failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.   When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.  The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told  them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

 Have a great weekend.

Plain and simple, in words everyone should be able to understand....  did you hear about GM's BK?  afterwards Uncle sam will own about 72% of the company... THAT really bothers me.

Darin, I think I can guess, But sometimes I like to mind my own business !

I think EVERYONE should have pay based on performance... some sort of commission standard. Would help fix a lot of things. But the way we are headed salary caps will kill Capitalism as we know it.

I never understood the aversion to work.  At least if you work you know you will eat.  (that concept has been around a long time)  I would think life would be pretty unsettling waiting on someone else to provide for you.  I have heard this story before.  Do you remember the story of the little red hen (back when the hen didn't share the bread with the group) today's version is watered way down.   cw

Rob...  this is excellent.  Is this actually from a professor?  In a book?  Or did you make this up?  In any case, I am sending this to my dad, because he went to college and majored as a Chemical Engineer and minored in macro economics.  And got his masters in management/economics.  So he is great with this stuff and will agree with you 110%, just as I will.  Yes, this is simple and easy to understand, which scares me even more, because our gov't doesn't seem to think so. Now my blood is boiling, just thinking about this.  thanks PS>..  not much said, but this should be featured, which I will flag now...

Robert, Great Post. Socialism has never worked. Getting the message out to the masses is the best way to correct the issue.

Of course you realize that you will find yourself at the hot end of the Democrat/Liberal/Socialist iron with talk like this. I know, I am Tea Party Leader. You are, of course, absolutely correct.
