What Holidays?

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Tara Properties

Yesterday I wrote an offer on a property, my client is from out of state and we where on a time limit.  I called the listing agent and was very surprised when I told him that I had a FULL PRICE offer on his listings the only thing was we needed it signed around that day due to my client leaving town the following day. The response I got was a big surprise to me. I was told that he was not working that today; it is a holiday so my client would have to wait until Tuesday for a response.

As a Realtor I have always worked weekends and holidays.

Some agents don't understand how to run their business.  I understand not working every single weekend and/or holiday, but you're doing your client a disservice if you're not going to present an offer, muchless a full price offer!!  I would drop the full price offer at the seller's house and let them know you were just dropping it off to make sure they had a clear copy as you faxed a copy to their agent, but haven't heard from them.  You're not breaking any laws by dropping off a copy.  You might get a quicker response when the sellers know there's an offer.

The seller should be given the contract right away.  This allows them to know what is going on.  I know as a seller I would have a better holiday knowing that my home is sold.  As an agent i would be happy to know I have a deal.  How sad.
