CRB Real Estate Brokers - Building and Supporting Hyper-Local Blogs

By
Education & Training with Retired Executive Director of Education at eXp Non-Licensed

Are you a Real Estate Broker or Manager?  Do you support your Agents Blogging?  Should a Real Estate Brokerage have a company Blog in addition to their own personal Blogs?  What is the value of having a Brokerage or TEAM Blog with multiple contributors?  Who are the "key" people that should contribute to a group Blog?  What should be the focus of a "Brokerage Blog" vs "Personal" and what kind of time commitment is involved?  What tools can be incorporated to bring more value to your Blogs and to the consumer, and why the Heck should you care?

This Friday, we'll share some insight about these and other questions.  The CRB  (Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers)  Northern California Chapter has invited AR to attend and represent the community.  The question of whether to have a Blog or not is really no longer the question at all, especially if you're in todays Real Estate Industry and Market.  The real question is; "how do you support, budget, and integrate time and technology so that the individual and Broker Blogs work, and are not something that can cause you or your office problems, lost business, or big money?"

Consumers are using the Internet more and more for research causing Agents and Brokers to take a deeper look at their involvement with Blogging, WEB 2.0 technologies, and their Internet presence.  Is it time to be in tune with them and to find more ways to support them?  Every Brokerage should consider having a Group/Team Blog.  In the very near future, this won't be a choice or option, it'll be an Industry standard, just like "the website" was.

The only choices soon will become when and how...

Building a Team or Broker Blog with Multiple Contributors doesn't have to be challenge or nightmare.  Understanding some basic key fundamentals can help you establish a powerful presence both on-line and in your Local Community.  ActiveRain programmers, developers, and our staff have put in many hours of time and research to determine what works and what doesn't.  Without a doubt, it takes commitment, focus, time, and a plan.  Investing these four basic elements will deliver a multitude of positive results.

Making the decision to have a Blog or Team Blog is the easy step, but knowing how to make it work and what things to implement, along with who should be contributing, is the key to ANY multi-authored Blogs' success.  If you're a Real Estate Broker/Manager, and you do not currently have a Blog or TEAM Blog for your Personal, Brokerage or Office, this may be an enlightening Luncheon for you to attend.  Joe Banuat from Coldwell Banker  (also the NOR-CAL CRB Executive Director) is inviting ALL OF YOU to join us in Sacramento this Friday for:

"Technology and YOU - the Broker/Manager"

All Licensed Real Estate Agents are Welcome, you DO NOT have to be a Broker or Manager to attend this event.

Brad, can you please bring this to Virginia Beach????  Seriously, I am putting together a training workshop for Broker-Managers and this sounds like great info.  I would greatly appreciate any take-aways or websites you come away with.

I have to echo some of the previous comments - 1) some brokers don't really understand the importance of this new tool, and 2) many don't see the utility of it. It would be nice if we could convince our brokers to support our efforts on the web, because ultimately that'll bring them business as well.

For the last two years whenever I uttered the word "blog" at my management meetings (I am an assistant manager with my company) I would get snickers and rolling eyes. They are FINALLY starting to take me more seriously, but not entirely. They just simply don't get it, even after I tell success story after success story. Truthfully I don't care anymore, as that means more readers for me and me alone, as I am still a full time agent, too. By the time they finally figure it out, I will already be savvy about the NEWEST technology, thanks to Active Rain!

Thanks you guys, I'm looking forward to speaking at this event.

I would be happy to share what takes place this Friday, the questions, the discussions, the concerns, the overall outcome.  I think many brokers and managers still just need to see and understand the value before they can endorse and support the cause.  It's up to those of us who have seen the benefits and rewards to share with others and help educate them about this stuff.

I'm really looking forward to this opportunity.  I think group, team, and company Blogs will be on the rise!   :-))

Here's just one example of a multi-authored blog.

You can tell by the content that it brings value to visitors and offers a wide variety of topics and opinions due to it's contributing authors.  Though if focuses on Real Estate Technology and information, the same concept could be applied to a Company or Brokerage Blog using hyper local "Community Raindexed" content.  http://www.geekestateblog.com

I'm out looking for some samples of multi-authored RE Brokerage or Company blogs today, let me know if there are any that you really like.

Brad, given the response here it would really make sense to put up your talk as a webinar. <thought balloon> hmmm, the longer other agents and brokers take to "get it", the better for me.</thought balloon> Forget what I said. The webinar is a terrible idea.

Brad - All you have to do is show them the money. If they can see a way to increase sales without spending a lot of money, it's a done deal.

I would be very interested to learn more about this.  Our company is growing, and as we grow, I'd like to have a team blog.  I have my own personal blog, but don't know much about what's involved with a team blog.

A team blog can definitely build SEO quicker and generate more traffic having multiple authors with a variety of content provided from different writing styles.  Even though this event was held last year, it still holds true today, a multi-authored Blog is a powerful tool in any market for any company or brokerage. Incorporate Social media and you have the ultimate success equation.
