This Plan Might Just Work...

By

I received an email earlier this week, maybe you have already seen it, but the longer I thought about it the more convinced I was that something like this might just work... Obviously most of what their doing IS NOT WORKING, just look at what GM did this morning how many billions did the Government push their direction. Although I would switch it up just a bit, to be fair of course. I just don't think anyone could actually RETIRE on only $1,000,000... the severance package amount should be bumped up to $2,000,000 each... Of course they would need to take classes prior to funds being dispensed so they wouldn't just squander it like (lottery winners) Citibank, AG, and many of the other prior recipients of the stimulus package have so far! Oh well just read it and see....

The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"

I think this guy nailed it!

 Dear Mr. President:

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America's economy.

Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander
the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them $1 million a piece severance for early retirement with the
 following stipulations:

 1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

 2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered - Auto
 Industry fixed.

 3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing
 Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!

At the end of the day it sounds so easy that it almost too good to be true. Except would I have to stop being a Realtor ? I am not sure I would want to give it up for 1 million. I would for 2 million though

Charlie it does sound too good, but it still might work. It surely wouldn't hurt to try!

I like it.  I also like the idea of rewarding folks that are current on their mortgage.  Offer them loan mods!!  Thanks for the post, I would vote for you!! - Kim

To help the country I would give it up for the million-- but it would be hard to not be out there in the realty business.

Of course if this was actually something our Goverment would do... We would need some clarity, this obviously wouldn't affect entrepreneurs, the self-employed, contractors, Real Estate Brokers, business owners (only positions that could be filled by an employee) So we would still get to work....

Oh Happy Day!!! :)

If only the government were really open for suggestions...

I really like this plan, and it sounds like such a good idea.  And I also love Kim's suggestion about rewarding those who have remained current with their mortgage!
