What to tell your clients when you're at REBarcamp

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Altos Research

Another week means another REBarcamp! On Friday, it's the Salt Lake City version of this wonderful event. If you're new to the REBarcamp events, learn more about it here.  Thank you to Rob Aubrey and eveyone else that's been organizing.

Yes, I know what you're thinking - "But it's on a Friday, and I have soooooo much to do to prepare for the weekend.  Buyers ready to take a second look at the house their considering, meetings with sellers, getting ready for the final Spring-time push as schools start to close and parents are preparing to move this Summer."

And that's EXACTLY why you should take time for your day to attend REBarcamp-SLC on Friday.  Huh?

Check out what these attendees from the REBarcamp-Phoenix had to say:

Need more convincing, well, as Dale Chumbley put it -

It's the middle of the Spring and you're busy (woohoo!).  But, like every good business owner, you have to continue to develop your own knowledge and business with fresh ideas.  What do you do when the phone rings on Thursday evening or Friday morning while you're on the way to the day's event and someone needs your help?

Here's what Dale suggests you tell your clients:

Thank you for the call, I’m happy to help you. Unfortunately, I’m already scheduled full on Thursday (every other professional in the world does it, why don’t we?). However, I’m available this weekend of Monday. Which works better for you?

Beautiful!

You owe it to your business, your clients, and yourself to make this the "boulder" in your time schedule.

Need more convincing?  Check out the real-time conversations on Twitter from agents and the topics that have been covered in other recent REBarcamps, including links to more about the presentations and learning sessions:

Portland, OR

Philadelphia, PA

Denver, CO

If you're serious about learning and building your real estate practice, then this is a MUST!  This is a free event - you just need to register and the rest is up to you. I'll see you in Salt Lake City.

Scott, the ability to truly connect and learn from other professionals can't be overstated. And the people who attend with a mind toward giving always come away with more than they gave.

Hey if you are from out of town we have a brand new hotel next to the facility. The weather is gorgeous, the mountains are awe inspiring and who knows you might see...

But most of all you will meet awesome people, learn and contribute. How cool is that.

Thanks Scott for posting

Just as Jeff stated.  These events are a great way to truly connect with other professionals as well as learn more amazing ways to increase your business.  If one comes within 200 miles of your home, you should really take the day & expenses to attend one.  It will benefit your business much more than time & money you invest in the day long event.

Konnie- REBAR Camps are all day events that allow those involved in the real estate industry to come together, learn all sorts of information about social media and anything else having to do with the RE industry.  This is then combined with the ability to network with others from around the country who come.  An awesome experience!

Hi Konnie & Billie -

Best part about REBarcamp?  There isn't a master schedule!!

Attendees decide on the sessions that they either want to lead, or sessions that they would like to have someone else lead.  For example, at other Barcamps, we've had sessions on:

  • What's a blog? Will it really help my business? Getting started with blogging.
  • Using video on your website or with your listings
  • Using Twitter as a marketing channel
  • Using Facebook as a marketing channel
  • Better ways to market - multiplying yourself
  • Utilzing technology tools available such as IDX on your website, live market charts/data
  • Reaching your clients in new ways

I always tell attendees - choose 2-3 objectives that you would like to accomplish.  Think about those lingering questions you have that no one in your office seems to be able to answer.  Bring 'em to Barcamp and you'll get them answered!!

I'm a bit slow off the mark. Guess I missed the one in Northern CA. Hope it will come around again.

The knowledge received at one day of RE BarCamp is well worth the time "lost" pounding the pavement.  RE BarCamp has taught me to work smarter, better and the networking is second to none.

Hope to see everyone at RE BarCamp Boston next week!  Don't forget RE BarCamp Virginia Beach on July 16th!

I am very excited to attend the Chicago REBar Camp.

How often do you hear "It was an AMAZING Experience" about a real estate seminar! That is exactly what I am hearing about this "Un-convention".

It appears the REBar folks have created something special, and June 15th can not come fast enough!!!!!

ROLL CALL?

Scott - I wholeheartedly agree.  The Houston Barcamp was completely worth my time, not only for the knowledge, but for the networking benefits.

Bar Camps rock.  It is certainly time well spent.  I'd love to be able to hit all of them.

Rebar has some great information, and the language suggested makes perfect sense to me.  I'm just coming back from a two day conference and told clients I wasn't available.
