I hate the face they make when they ask you, "How is Real Estate going?"

I really don't understand where it comes from, is it sympathy, is it pitty, is it "what a fool you are to still be in that industry", what exactly is the look?  But I know you have seen the look.  I know, you know, the look to which I am refering.

It happens to me at the grocery store, it happens to me at birthday parties, and yes at family functions.  The face!

I answer right back with, "I am busy, very busy, and the Real Estate Market is improving steadily, thanks for asking."

AND then I tell them that the First Time Homebuyer is fueling this market right now, and I am working with and pursuing as many as I can.  I tell them that if they know anyone that is even thinking about buying or selliing to let me know because there are some great deals out there, and the rates, even if they are a little higher than they were last month, are incredible.  I tell them that they need to start looking so they can settle before December 1st and claim their free $8,000.

I definitely leave them with a different face.

Hi Lynn - I've seen that same face when "The" question is asked.  My response is similar to yours and that's not the answer they've been looking for.  But in reality, business has picked up since the beginning of the second quarter and the outlook is getting better all the time.

I get the look and then the "how are you doing?" question as if I were one step from living under a bridge. People get so wrapped up in national news that they don't understand just how local real estate truly is. I'm actually as busy now if not busier than I was during the height of the market.  When I tell them that, I get the stunned look- I like THAT look alot better!
