Forbes has published a Top Ten List of "America's Best Long Term Real Estate Bets" looking at markets that are unlikely to overheat and then burst, and those that are likely to have vibrant economies in the future.

San Antonio comes in near the top of the list at No. 3.  The picks are:

  • 1) Seattle
  • 2) Washington, D.C.
  • 3) San Antonio
  • 4) Minneapolis
  • 5) New York
  • 6) St. Louis
  • 7) Philadelphia
  • 8) Cincinnati
  • 9) Portland
  • 10) Atlanta

San Antonio is the only Texas city on this list.  Our city is projected to have a 2 percent job growth from 2008-2017. The report says "volatility in home building and vacancy were in the middle of the pack nationally, while the metro area's job-growth figures have been national leaders."

Howdy there Shirley

Congrats to the fine City of San Antonio. From everything that I get to read and see of San Antonio, from all my friends there. I sure do understeand why. Y'all got so high up on the list.

But sure can't understeand how in the world they could pick St. Louis, over K.C.

God Bless America

I will not lie, I'm happy to see Portland on that list, but I think the local government needs to take a lot of steps in the right direction to make sure that article is right. I think if they continue in the direction they are going we could be less likely for a recovery and start to look more like detroit!

Shirley, looks like most cities are not in the South, you are one of the few exceptions. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Shirley, interesting list.  I hope San Antonio continues to grow.

Didn't get to talk to you at the sales meeting this morning.  Looked for you to say hi after the meeting and you were already gone!!!  :(

If I had to live anywhere else in America, San Antonio would be in the top two, right there with Seattle.

Hi Shirley, I'm not at all surprised to find San Antonio near the top of the list.  After visiting, I decided this was a place I would enjoy living.
