I don't know about you, but I haven't had a good laugh on late night TV in years....    It's BORING and BLAND!!!

Jay Leno seems like a nice guy, but his political humor rarely gave me a laugh.    For the past 3 nights I've watched his replacement Conan O'Brien..   You know, the guy with the Woody Woodpecker hair cut...   I see nothing funny or interesting about him what-so-ever.    Just count how many times Conan uses the word "I" or "me" over the course of his show.

Both Leno and O'Brien seem to lack a certain element....and that element is class and innovation.

There's little funny or memorable about their guests either.   Where's the spontaneity, interaction, surprises?  Where's the FUN?  More often than not the guest is someone who's there only to plug a movie.

When I think about it....no Tonight Show host can hold a candle to the master of late night Johnny Carson.  Carson was class personified.   He always gave us a good laugh and made TV viewing a pleasure.

Take a trip down memory lane with this viewing of "Carnac the Magnificent" as he uses his mystical powers to divine answers without ever seeing the questions...    View by clicking here....

The comedy still stands up, even 30 years later.

NOW THAT'S HUMOR.....    Are you taking notes Conan...or Letterman???

That's my opinion.....and I'm stickin' to it..

Thanks.  Sincerely, David

Hi David

I enjoyed Johnny Carson the most, some of his shows were off the wall.

Good luck and success.

Maybe we are just out of touch with today's humor.  I have never heard of most of the guests.   After hearing bad news all day long I go to bed at night and watch re-runs of Frasier or Seinfeld.  Thats my speed and all the excitement I can take.  My son liked "The Office" and I did not think it was the least bit funny.  I know that is a sign of old age!  Bummer!

David,

I have to agree with you.  When some shows end - they should just end!   The Tonight Show should have ended with Johnny.   Some people just can't be replaced or at least that's my opinion.   It's like some of the movies they try to remake with different actors, it just doesn't cut it!

David - he was truly a master of his craft! Unfortunately Saturday Night Live is less and less funny too.

You are so right....the comedians of today are not at all original. If you close your eyes they all sound the same. All doing the same material. Nothing original!

Happy Thursday!!

I pretty much agree with you.  I have to add though, Jay Leno is funnier than Conan.  I said "well, I won't be watching the Tonight Show anymore because I can't stand Conan".  I wanted to watch the first night just to see how it was going to be.  I thought the stage setup was similar to Carson but Conan was more than boring, it was pitiful.  I turned it off!  The end of the tonight show as far as I see it.

David,

Carson was a real entertainer. Leno never yanked my crank at all.

I like Leno and his humor, Conan isn't even close. Jonny Carson was the best and always will be. We tend to forget that for most of Carson's run he was on for 90 minutes. No way any of todays host can possibly compete with that.
