Staging Business Name

By
Home Stager with Designology Interior Design
You all seem to have such great names for you business. For over 3 years I have operated under the business name Christine Marie Designs but that was when I was strictly an interior designer. I am beginning to think it just isn't appealing enough as a home staging business name. What do you all think? Any suggestions?

Christine, first of all...welcome to AR! I just love how you've jumped in and gotten your feet wet!

There are some stagers her that use their name and then there are those of us that put some other spin on it!  What are you leaning more towards.

I would love a more eye catching name. My name worked well enough when I was doing Design but I think it might confuse more than help promote my business and what is it about. So far everything I have come up with seems to corny. ;) Like "Home Sweet Home" nothing against anyone who has that for a business name, it just doesn't suit me. I want a hip, fresh and interesting business name. Home Elements is another one I though of but I just don't know.

I started by writing a few words down on paper that I liked and started playing with them.

I used to be  Inspirational Home Interiors but I though it was too long so last year I changed my company name to

Elite Home Decor

I wanted something that would encompass all I do as I do decorating, colour consultations, organizing along with staging.

It's all about colour

Welcome aboard, Cristine.

Your current business name could easily sound like a label for designer clothes if no one knows what you do and if there is no image (i.e. a house) to go along with the name / logo.  Sometimes a surname works well in combination with an industry term i.e. Sharp ReDesigns or Smart Staging Solutions (I just made that one up ... don't know if it belongs to anyone).

I just can't come up with something that includes either "Christine" or "Craig" ...

Sandi: Thanks for the response, that si my problem....neither can I. I would love to be able to use my name in my business name BUT all I can think of are thing that sound cheesy. My other dilema is that I won't be doing just redesign/staging. I am also planning on continuing my interior design consultations so I need a name that appeals to both markets of clients.

Hey again Christine!

I hear you. I didn't want a cheezy name either. I came up with one I liked, Velvet Plum, and would you believe it, there is already a stager with that?!

I too wanted a name for straight interior decoration as well. I finally came up with 2 Hounds Design (after my 2 dogs). Some say it is a liability, but most don't.

I like Decor Elements. How about Decor Elements by Christine, if you want to include your name?

Christine, I just plugged in decorelementsbychristine.com and the name isn't taken.  Just remember, you need something that portrays your biz and is easy to remember.  Think about your domain name as well as your biz name and have them be the same :)  Just my 2 cents. Also, even though most all of us are honest people, you do need to be conservative on your ideas here. Joe public can come and check out our conversations.... maybe they liked your name.... they could have snagged it from you today :(  Just lookin out for you.  You can always email any of us to talk about confidential info if you would like.  There are some fabulous "teachers" here :)

Actually I talked to a friend of mine (she might be doing staging with me down the road) and we came up with a really great name that we both loved. Had to keep it so she can be a part of the business without feeling like a lacky...ha ha! Thanks for the help and advice. I will reveal the name after I get it registered. ;)

Christine-If I had it to do over, I would rename my business so that the word Staging or Staged Homes was somehow in the business name. It helps with your SEO and position. Mine is A Defined Design but I would change it to A Defined Design-Professional Home Staging.

My company is Moving Mountains Productions, Inc. dba (doing business as) Moving Mountains Design, Moving Mountains Design & Home Staging and Moving Mountains Home Staging. I use Moving Mountains Design for my Interior Design company, and the others are self explanatory. My domain is www.MovingMountainsDesign.com . It definitely helps to have the term "home staging" or "real estate staging" in your company name and domain name in terms of search engine optimization.

IMHO, having your name in the name of your company makes it sound like a one woman show, not a larger company.

http://realestatestagingassociation.com/choosing-a-business-name/  here is an article I wrote on choosing a name. hope it help

I agree with Michelle, about the larger company issue. you can always ad and Associates to make it feel larger and work with other stagers.
