Speechless Sunday - Baby Deer

We have 2 six acre ponds in the back yard so we see deer at least 2-3 times per day.  As the baby and I were walking this week we saw this baby deer laying near a tree.  It was the smallest deer I have ever seen.  We thought that it was hurt so we quitely walked up to it.  It stayed there long enough for us to go in and get our camera.  When we go too close he/she decided to let us know they weren't hurt as he/she went to find it's mommy!  I was worried when the little guy ran off scared that he would get lost or hurt but I saw him with his mom in the yard yesterday.  You can tell how small he was if you compare to the size of the bark on the tree.  It was much smaller than our 18 lb dog that stands 15 inches.

Evening Sheri,

Very cool picture.  nature has a way of keeping them calm when they sense danger.  Well done.

Hi Sheri,

Getting to see a fawn is priceless.  I'm building a house for my Mom in the mountains of Wyoming and get to see deer, moose, elk and antelope all the time.  But I haven't seen a fawn while I have been here. let alone had the chance to take a photo.  I hope you keep us informed as this one grows up.  I'm looking forward to seeing more photos.

Thanks fopr sharing with us.

Gary

How cute that baby is!  I like the spots on its fur.  It is funny how good it runs already.  It takes humans forever to learn to walk.
