Linking points?

By
Real Estate Agent with Sundance Realty

Okay I feel like a gambler, I want more points.... Activerain CasinoI do already have a link on my personal website to activerain, but I never did get any points for the link am I missing something here? While I'm at it how do you get a "featured post"? I thought it was how many blogs you posted, or how many people made comments, or I don't know? Then I saw someone get a featured post with their 1st blog, that blew my whole theory of how this thing works. Don't get me wrong, I'm not desperate or anything I am just trying to figure things out.

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue I want a featured post, How about you??????

If anyone is in the know about these things please let me in the loop okay?

Did you send AR an email letting them know you've linked?  Even if you did, send another one as they're taking longer these days to response than they used to... busier...

As for featured blogs, you just need to write something that will grab the community's attention.  Success stories are the best, and funny "lesson learned" client stories work too... but there is no criteria.

I had same experience as above.  What I considered my best stuff has never been featured.

So I focus on writing information to help customer make informed buying and selling decisions.

I think you have to put cute little pictures on the post.  I will never get featured.

No clue. The posts I've spent the most time on do NOT get featured. And . . . a few random weird ones got featured. I wish I could give you a tip or two!

Features...hmmmm...well my husband is a reader not a blogger...he was reading AR the other day...and his comment was...how come it is always the same old same old when other people write more succinctly, better,. more often are more experienced about the same thing...guess you have to sit at the right hand of the Rain Gods and that isn't me...If you have a point issue....go to the Gods directly...can't promise a feature..but they will fix whatever you should have gotten !

I wrote to Jeremy Blanton (Active Rain tech guy) about why a particular post had been featured since it was strictly personal and of no value to anyone.  He said he was aware of the post, but that it had been flagged many times so apparently people liked it and recommend it for a feature.

I've been featured only once, but have also felt I wrote some other helpful post that were not considered.  There are lots of people here who post a lot, and it gets them attention.  Just keep trying and you might be surprised.

Hi Shannon ~ There aren't any points awarded anymore for linking.  I don't know when it stopped but it was before I jumped in here at the beginning of the year.  That's one challenge on ActiveRain - a lot of the how-to blog posts are older and some of the info is no longer applicable.

Hi Shannon -- One way to get featured posts is to have people "flag" your post.  It brings it to the attention of the Active Rain gods.  The flag is at the bottom of each post and by pressing it you can make a comment on why you are flagging it.  I've had a few featured posts and have to agree - the ones I thought would be featured weren't!  You get more points when lots of people comment on your blogs.  If I look at my point summary most of the posts have 350-550 points -- so just keep doing what you're doing!

I think it was around last December when ActiveRain quit providing linking points. As far as getting Featured, there is no rhyme or reason to it. I think it's kind of like trying to find that right person to marry. When you search and search, the result is nothing. When you quit searching, there that person is. Same thing here. When you try and try to write a Featured Post, nothing. When you quit trying, you get a Feature.

The whole ActiveRain points system seems to have changed this past May 1. Apparently they were trying to slow the points accumulation down, and I can definitively say that it worked.

Did you ever get AR to give you points for your link? I have had the AR link on my website for a long long time and haven't gotten any points for it.
