Special offer

first time home buyer tax incentive for divorced mother

By
Real Estate Agent with Remax Realty Centre

My client had a property together with her spouse. 2 yrs ago she got divorced. She has been living in an apartment with her daughter since than. My question is if she buys a house on her own right now, would she be considered a first time home buyer and would she ba able to collect the tax incentive for first time home buyer.

Please give me any feedback

Lavina,

I thought it was three years, from the time a buyer would have to wait until they could be considered a first time buyer again.  Check out the IRS website....I think It's 3 years:  http://www.irs.gov/uac/First-Time-Homebuyer-Credit:-Scenarios
