Don't Forget About Traditional Marketing Methods

Services for Real Estate Pros with Lisa M. Jackson and Associates, LLC

Since web 2.0 has become such a major part of our lives, many real estate agents have begun to overlook more traditional methods of marketing. The truth is, you need to combine the old with the new to create an effective marketing campaign that will produce you leads in the present and in the future. One highly effective and low cost way of marketing your real estate business is postcard marketing.

Postcard marketing offers benefits that you can’t achieve with any other type of marketing.

Some benefits include:

• Studies show that postcards get read 73% of the time. That is considerable higher than that of a letter.

• The response rate of postcard marketing is slightly above 1%. That means that for every 100 postcards you mail, you should expect to hear from 1-2 prospects.

• Marketing with postcards are more cost effective than other marketing methods.

• Postcard marketing is easy to test. Since it is easy to test, it will be easy for you to make changes to ensure you are achieving maximum results. Continue

I used to send postcards to strangers and quit because it lost its effectiveness when all the agents started doing it.  Now I send postcards to my past clients and not to strangers so that they don't forget me.

Lisa - I would tend to agree with Richard on this one.  You must be careful who you are sending the postcards to.  If you are farming a neighborhood that also has five other Realtors constantly sending postcards, the effort would be worthless.  Make sure the postcards have some meaning and a reason for them to contact you, and that you are not sending them where the potential client is not getting inundated with similar postcards.  If that is done, then I do feel postcards can be a relevant part of your marketing efforts.

Maybe just listed postcards would be a good idea.  In the past I rec'd tons of postcards from realtors and I just tossed them out.

Many realtors use a service with bad data with addresses.  One sent me cards for over two years with the wrong occupant name on it.  I've been in this house for 37 years.

I've had mixed results with postcards. The funny thing is my success rate is greater than 1% when blanketing a neighborhood -  strangers. And my success rate on vacant / unimproved properties is real close to 2% but once I've sold the sellers land they usually sell their only connection to the area. I'll never hear from them again.
