The Annual Regatta returns dispite economic downturn. Previously some of the larger Banks were sponsors of the Hoag Cup Regatta and now with the troubles of Countrywide, Washington Mutual, Wachovia,Bof A, Wells Fargo and other previous sponsors, local smaller businesses and private citizens have come forth and supported the boat races to save our Regatta. This event is an important fundraiser for Hoag. They expect around $900,000 this year surpasing the previous $700,000 in the past 2 years. This 3 day event has as many as 20 entries of over 50ft ships will be sailing around bouys this weekend for the benefit of the Hoag Heart and Vascular Institute
Saturday Magic Shoe 5 K Run/Walk 830am at Corona Del Mar High School will benefit local children, high school kids, and homeless with slightly worn and sometimes new shoes from participants. So bring those never worn, slightly worn any and all shoes and participate in this worthwhile benefit.
