I have found many interesting and helpful articles here in "activerain" but in answer to my own question yesterday, information was provided to me through RIS media. An interesting article which included a study from Harvard regarding social networking. Beginning to feel "out of the loop", it was important for me to start some investigation on this subject. Just as in the article, I felt like a majority of these social networking sites were a big waste of my time. This article validates my suspicions. I think I will stay focused on the clients needs, they really don't need to know if I went fishing, golfing or baked a cake today!
Aw, come on Enquring minds want to know everything. I often wonder myself, I could be down at the lake fishing but instead I am sitting right here commenting. I think I will take a walk o down and see if they are biting. Good Night.
I have actually picked up a few clients from it..and my current clients join my group...so I am always in their minds... (for referrals)
I find that having pages on these networks is important. I do not spend hours updating what I am doing right now, but I do spend minutes everyday posting notes making sure everyone knows that I sell real estate. Everyone of my friends and their friends and their friends (I could keep going forever) see what I post. I can't help but think that someone wil be looking for a Realtor soon.
I am using some social network site to get referls and it really works many time
Cheryl,
Last year I believe my records called for about $57,000 in commission dollars that could be tracked back to Active Rain....not bad for about $300 worth of fees for my localism and outside blog sponsorship fees
..my localism posts are features on my area. I get phone calls from business owners asking me to write about their businesses. My website produced zero leads prior to the SEO provided by my Active Rain localism posts.....I was featured in a Wall Street Journal article because of Active Rain....I would continue but there are many posts you can read....
I saw your current post alluding to this one - I have made far more income and solid contacts (as well as recruiting two of our top agents) from my time in social networking. As with any form of marketing, it works well IF you are consistent with it. It is a long-term strategy with the potential for short-term results.
