The town of Los Gatos ("The Cats") got its name long before there was a town logo involving animals by that name. Supposedly, they were originally created as distinct from the name of the town - not for the name of the town at all. Officially endorsed, these two cats (Leo and Leona) date from less than a hundred years ago and the originals can be seen today, in their original location no less.
