Blackberry Curve or Blackberry Storm ?

BB Curve - Photo by Roland Woodworth I'm trying to make a decision to switch phones from my current BB Curve to the BB Storm.  I hear that they are still working out bugs on the BB Storm.

My BB Curve tends to want to freeze up with text messages and takes a few minutes to free up to use again.  Please help me to make my decision as to keep the current BB Curve or make the leap to the BB Storm. This phone came out about 2 months after I purchased my BB Curve.  Grrrr....

I hear that on the BB Storm that I can view PDF files and have much more options with the internet compaired to the BB Curve.

I would like to hear your thoughts and personal experiences using either one of this phones.

  • Did you switch from one to the other ?
  • Do you like or dislike either one
  • Advantages of one over the other
  • Comparison of operational functions
  • Ease of use comparisons
  • Any other thoughts

I'm sure this can be very interesting to see what others think of each of these two phones. I'm sure others are thinking of some of the same questions.

Roland - I've heard many stories about the Storms software freezups. Not sure if they've fixed it yet... I also have heard the keyboard touch screen isn't so good... Just my 2 cents...

i have also heard that the Storm is hard to navigate and not so user friendly.   The ratings and reviews of the Curve are great 5 STARS.  Believe Verizon is coming out with an updated Curve this month or next month you might want to wait a bit.

Hello Roland,

I'm glad you asked for comments about BB Storm so that I can avoid purchasing it.  Thanks!

Roland, There are so many iPhone wanna be's out there. I purchased the LG Dare. I swear at it more than I swear by it. Wait until it has been out awhile and all the bugs are worked out before you buy...

I have had several friends upgrade to storm when it came out.  They all went back to the curve.  I am thinking of the new iPhone and trading up from my curve.

I love my curve but cannot open pdf files or read offers on it.  I understand on the iPhone you can!  YAY!

Roland - We upgraded our telephones to the Blackberry Storm.  I haven't experienced any of the problems discussed in the comments.  I find it easy to navigate, takes pretty good video/photos, etc.  My only complaint (albeit minor) is that my cheek sometimes clicks the mute key while I'm on the telephone - human error.  I think it is a great phone.

I had the Blackberry Curve, and truly enjoyed it. Then I had an opportunity to switch to iPhone. And although it has some limitations (like no video capability), the applications are tremendous. When the Storm came out, I read the various reviews....and decided...Nah! My iphone is such a great tool than when it dies, or if I get tired of it, I'll get the next generation. I am hooked!

Barbara: So far I think I will hold still on my curve. Another Realtor friend showed me a couple things to do on this to make it work better too.

Ryan: You are actually the first to give such positive views on the storm.  I didn't even get a good vibe from the sale rep at the verizon store who uses the Storm

Pacita: Everyone I talk to that has the iPhone loves it.. I don't see changing service providers to get this one.

Tim: got a good BB tip todnight.. will see how it works.

A Great Real Estate Experience

My husband had the Storm for 25 days and traded it in for the 8830 before he hit the 30 day return period. He found that his fingers were too big to easily use the touch screen. I tried it and had trouble, too (and I do not have big fingers).

If you are a big texter (which I am) the larger keyboard on the 8830 is pretty handy. I have been very happy with it--I was formerly a disgruntled Treo person. I have not had locking up issues and it connects to my Bluetooth easily.
