"Selecting A Focal Point"

Selecting a focal point is the best place to start when decorating a room. A focal point is by definition the center of activity, attraction, or attention. In design terms that simply means it should be something that everything else in the room revolves around.

Examples of focal points are items such as a brilliant piece of artwork or sculpture, a favorite piece of furniture, window treatment and etc. it can even be something small like a pillow that is covered in a fabric you love. The focal point you select should always be the main focus of the room and everything else in it supports it. This helps in creating a balanced room as well as preventing the room from becoming overly crowded with non-suitable items.

Remember keep it clean and neat and don't overly accessorize especially near the focal point itself!
