Square One

At the heart of Mississauga lies the Square One area. Originally developed by Bruce Mclaughlin out of a cow field, the Square One shopping mall is one of the largest in Canada. As well as being home to Mississauga City Hall, The Living Arts Centre, the new YMCA and the Mississauga Art Gallery there are a mix of Hi-rise office and Condominium apartment buildings.
More recently the Mississauga centre area has experienced a construction boom of new condominium towers. Even today construction cranes can be seen standing tall, in defiance of current economic conditions. Condominium buildings such as Chicago, Onyx and Ultra Ovation are inching their way skyward and will eventually take their place amongst the other recent new condo projects.

The central Mississauga Transit bus station is also located here from where you travel to all other parts of Mississauga. If you work in Downtown Toronto the Go Transit bus leaves from here also.

Amidst all this hustle and bustle sits one of the most tranquil spots in Mississauga. The Japanese inspired gardens lie just south of Square One shopping mall and is officially known as Kariya Park. Opened in 1992 the park honours the twin city of Kariya, Japan and provides a haven of calm in the centre of Mississauga. When some peaceful reflection is the order of the day a stroll around the pond and through the rhododendruns, pine, gingko and sweetgum trees can give you a whole new perspective on life.
