Hiking on the Meeteetse Trail

By
Education & Training

This is my first AR post with a video slide in it.

I would like to thank Jim Frimmer of San Diego for making me aware of Slide.

Below is a slide show of my latest hiking trip.  The photos were all taken by my very good friend Marisa.

Along with two other friends, we decided to hike on the Meeteetse trail (South Fork Grove Creek) this past weekend.  The trail was 3.5 miles round trip and it took us just over 2 hours to complete and involved an elevation gain of 1,200.   There were plenty of good views along the way of mountains, meadows, rocks, streams, wooded area and plenty of wild flowers.

We packed some sandwiches and snacks for lunch and we stopped halfway for a little picnic with a very scenic view.  This was a very good trail for hiking with plenty of eye candy.  However, unless you are in good shape or a regular hiker, I would not recommend it as it is physically demanding.   You can say that  it was breathtaking and I am not just talking about the views!  The good thing is that if you go hiking on this trail and succeed to do the entire trail (like the four of us did), you feel empowered and great.

It's Good to Be Here!!

Hi Gerry - I really enjoyed your slideshow except for one major point - the automatic page turning occurs so quickly that it makes me feel dizzy.  I just bookmarked the slide.com website to investigate.  There must be a way to slow it down so readers can absorb and enjoy the photos.

Marc,

Thanks for the feedback.  I went back and edited it to make it slower.

Monique,

It is never too late to start hiking.   Best of all it's free and you can do it at your own pace.  It is also more fun and easier to do it with one more other persons if you are looking for a little bit more motivation.

Number 1 and 7 are my faves, and are those Columbines in 10?  What was the elevation of the trail? The vegetation is telltale of the "above sea level" nature of the trail! Nice slide show, haven't tried one of this company's, only Smilebox...on my list!

Cheryl,

I see that you liked the close-up photos of some of the disctinct rock formations observed from along the trail.   The trail starts at an altitude of 6,555 feet and at the highest point, it reaches an altitude of 7,555 feet.   I am not sure what type of flowers are the ones in 10.  I checked online and it does not look like they were Columbines.

Gerry - The changes are considerably better and I see you made the pictures larger too.  I think that slide.com would be an excellent tool for showing listings.

Hey Gerry,

That was a great hike!  If you feel like another scenic uphill challenge, next time you can go on the Mystic River Hike about 30 minutes from Fish Tail.  I'll send you some pictures.

I love your blog, you have some great shots of the Magpies!  Hope to see you again soon!  I'm already planning my next trip out there to Montana.

Hi Gerry, The photos in your Slide are terrific -- this would be a great thing to send to customers after a day of showing -- I've been playing with Smilebox - they have a slide feature too. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous photos - it is beautiful there.

Mary,

I like with your idea.  Thank you for being a regular visitor and your comments.

Debi,

Terrific views indeed!  I am glad you liked the rock formations.  I have gone on many hiking trails in and around Red Lodge but these very interesting rock formations were unique and a joy to watch from this trail.
