Last night while I was reading blogs on active-rain my attention was drawn to the TV that was on in the background. I heard the reporter talking about a fire that started in a mobile home and within minutes destroyed 8 homes. As soon as the reporter showed the burnt out homes I realized it was a small town in my community just outside of Palmdale.
My market place is unique to other market areas because of the large area that it covers. I have live and work in the community for over 30 years. And my areas of service also include Lancaster, Rosamond, Acton, California City, Littlerock and Lake Los Angeles. The mobile home park that this tragic incident took place was in Lake Los Angeles. I am sure the day started as usual for these victims. I do not know what cause the fire - but at 2:00 pm yesterday the lives of at least 5 families changed forever.
Many of the residences in the park did not have insurance and most had very little money or possessions to begin with, but now what they had has been turned to ash. I think what touched me the most is that thankfully no human lives were lost - but several family pets were killed. You could tell that most of the people were more heart broken about the loss of their pets rather then the material things that they once owned.
This morning when I read the article about the fire in our local newspaper I was very disappointed that the newspaper did not mention that a fund has been set up to help the victims of the fire - so I just wanted to ask if anyone reading this article could spare a few dollars to send to the fund. It does not have to be much - but I am a true believer that if you do something nice for a stranger in need that it will come back to you.
I would like to make a challenge to all the KW agents out there to donate at least $1. I know that times are tough for many agents out there - but if every member on active rain only gave $1 that would be over $32,000 to help these families who have lost everything. You would not even have to give up you daily coffee for $1.00 you could probably find that in the bottom of your purse or pants pocket.
