The Bikers are here 100's of thousands are expected for the 4 day event. Starting on May 31st through June the 4th. This years event will be the 13th annual Republic of Texas Rally. It is the largest motorcycle rally in the state of Texas and for that matter one of the largest in the United States. There will be Yuppies on Hondas, Lifers on Harleys every type of biker or bike at the rally. The Hotels and restaurants will be full the entire week. This rally brings thousands of dollars into the local economy. Every where you go in the Austin area you will see motorcycles. The APD is already posted safety directions concerning the traffic.

Where: At the Travis County Exposition Center. From intersection I-35 and US 290 East in North Austin, go six miles east on 290 to the intersection of 290 and Decker Lane(FM 3177). Turn right (south) onto Decker Lane and go three miles to the front gate of the Expo center.
Yesterday the event was started somewhat early when the Mobile Vietnam War Memorial was welcomed 30 miles outside of Austin by 400 Bikers who then proceeded then to escort the 18 wheeler truck from Buda Texas to Pflugerville Texas where it will be on display day and night until June 4th. I wish I could have seen it as I suspect it was a pretty moving sight.

There will be professional Boxing matches at the Expo Center
Then the toughest girls on eight wheels meet the baddest chicks and dudes on 2 wheels when the Thunderdome meets the Thunder Girls! The Lonestar Girls a Roller Derby team will compete with other teams all weekend.
Then Team Extreme will be performing daily death defying tricks both inside a 360 degree metal sphere and on the streets. They will also be preforming Aerial stunts.
Downtown Austin - Friday Night
ROT Motorcycle Parade - At 7:30AM sharp the motorcycles will form a parade that goes 10 miles from the Expo center to 6th street downtown. In past years when the first motorcycles approach 6th street the last ones are still waiting in line to leave the Expo center! The noise alone that is made by this many cycles is Astounding! The parade will be lead by the Budweiser Clydesdalesand the Vietnam war memorial.
Both 6th street and Congress Avenue will be totally blocked off to all traffic except Motorcycles. besides all the nightclubs on 6th there will be two music stages set up on Congress to accommodate the bands for the "Battle of the Bands".
There will also be over 300 motorcycle vendors at the Rally. This is an event not to miss!
