5 states and a learning experience

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Chesterfield

So What Have I Learned So Far?

To date I have visited 5 states looking for new active rain members that may need some encouragement to jump into the rain and begin participating on a larger scale.  I am sure that there will not be a lot of the newbies will read this but, for those that do I hope that this will help you in getting started and give me some encouragement when I get to your state.

My AR Home Page  We all have one of these, an AR My Home Page.  This is what mine looked like earlier today.

For the new member there are several things that you will want to do and it is not all the difficult.

My AR Home Page with notes

  1. Secret AgentThe first thing that you want to do is remove the avatar that AR will give you, it is not very becoming.  Don't stay a secret agent.
  2. Complete your profile.  This is your opportunity to talk about your self and let people know who you are and what services you perform.

AR profile page

  • While you are in you profile you may want to add a few graphics.
  • While you are doing this you may want to begin reading some of the blog posts of some of the writers here in AR
  • Comment on those post, who knows you may find some one that you may want to subscribe to
  • Join some groups with people who have like interests or maybe there is something that you may want to learn.  There are a lot of gifted writers here.
  • Add some of your friends as associates and this can be done by where they liv and work and also what they do.

More things that you may want to do before closing your profile page

AR profile page

Place some of your customer comments on your profile, too.

All the while you are doing this you may want to try your had at writing.  Trust me, if I can do this YOU can.

So here is the plan:

  1. Set up a time to do this, maybe an hour a day until it is done
  2. Change/add your picture to your profile.  I don't like mine either but stop being a secret agent.
  3. Tell folks about you in your profile
  4. Add a couple of pictures to your profile
  5. Begin commenting on others blog posts
  6. Add associates at your leisure
  7. Write a blog post, the first one should be you introducing yourself to the members and return comments that are placed on your post.
  8. Set a goal of maybe one post a week.
  9. If you need help go the Help/FAQ button at the bottom of the page.  The other idea would be to post a blog about what you need help with.  There are many people here that would be willing to help.

There is an old addage that says "A Journey of many miles begins with a single step"...............I would say that your blogging journey starts with a single blog post.

Hi Don, very nice tutorial. It's always nice when an AR veteran reaches out with helpful tips. There are a few that we can benefit from like continuing to add testimonials when we get more of them. Hope all is well.

I would encourage anyone that wanted to send it to their AR buddies to do so.  If you would like to re-blog it that would be fine too.

I have been updating my profle every so often. I would add that deeplinking to some of the inner pages of your website is a good idea:)
