I don't take NO for an answer!

How many times have you been told you can't do something? Do you listen?

I don't know about you, but I'm a "Find a way or Make a way" person! Whether it's my stubborness in me, or my competitiveness in me, or my "D" personality in me that doesn't settle for an answer I don't want to hear!

I just recently got a new listing in a guarded gate community, that has a strict NO SIGN policy. No "For Sale" Signs whatsoever on the property (however you CAN have a lock box on the door) and no open house signs ever, in the neighborhood guiding buyers to an open house. My seller told me, we aren't allowed to have an open house! I couldn't believe that, so I questioned her. She said, "No one has ever done an Open house in this community...it's just the way it is!"

It reminded me of a story about a Mom recently cooking a Roast for dinner. Before she put the roast in the pan, she cut both ends off the roast, put it in the pan, and then put it in the oven. The daughter asked her..."Mom, Why do you cut the ends off the Roast before you put it in the oven?" THe mother said, "Well, that's because that's the way my Mother did it. SO the daughter wanted her to  call her Mom, to ask why. When they called to ask her grandma why she cut the ends off the roast before she cooked it, she said, "Well....that's because, that's the way my mother did it." So.....then, Grandma got on the phone and called her Mom, to ask why she always cut the ends off a Roast before she cooked it. Everyone waited and listened to hear her say, "That's simple, I always cut the ends of the Roast off before I cooked it because, honey, that's the only way it would ever fit in my small little pan!" :-)

Moral of the story....don't just do it, beacause that's the way it's always been!

SO, Back to real estate!

I went to ask the guard at the gate about doing an open house, with the sign issue. He told me to go ask the lady at the community center. SO I went to ask her, and she told me I had to go ask them in the Sales office, so I went to ask them, and she told me to go ask the guard at the gate!?!?!? So, the guard at the gate and I decided that "I could" have an open house, (with NO signs), but I would make a flier with the directions to the OPen House, and he would pass the flier out at the gate, when someone drove up saying they were wanting to go to the Open House!

How about that? I can't wait to have my 1st Open House there! See what happens when you THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!! Find a way, or Make a way!!!

That is so true, good story...currently I have a seller that is telling me...He doesn't deal with agents. If he can't sell it no one can. His home is over priced and he doesn't want to lower it! I want the listing cause it is in a great neighborhood and I can get a lot of leads off that one property! I am really working this guy!
