I wish that I could say that I have had even one thing to do with this site, but unfortunately, my contribution is just sharing this site with the world, or more importantly, the concerned citizens of what I hope will someday be "formerly called" Campton Hills.  A new site was launched and in all truth, I have no idea who did this, but to say that it tickles me would be a gross understatement.  I wish the person(s) would step forward so that I can give kudos where kudos is needed.

Here's the site....http://opposecamptonhills.com/

Here are the top 3 questions that are brought up....

THE TOP THREE QUESTIONS ABOUT CAMPTON HILLS ANSWERED:

1.
Was this area under the threat of being annexed?  NO! A small group of residents in the Silver Glen road area felt that Elgin's annexation of agricultural land in there area was not in there best interest. They felt they needed to create this village in order to protect there own interests. But, in order to do this, they had to take away the rights of other homeowners who wished to stay unincorporated. For the incorporation to occur,  they needed to show that they had an adequate tax base. The only way to do this was to incorporate as many homes (subdivisions) as possible.  So this was not for our protection from any outside threat, it was a requirement by Kane County to show a viable tax base.

The majority of residents were not informed that this new village was going to affect them. So many of the residents didn't believe they were going to be part of this incorporation. The founders of  Campton Hills did as little as possible to inform who was going to be part of this village.

2. Are we looking at a possible property tax increase? YES! Campton Hills is in a financial crisis . The projected budget, does not show adequate funding from the Illinois state fuel tax, which Campton Hills is trying to operate from. A statement made in a village meeting said that they possibly  WOULD NOT BE FINANCIALLY VIABLE BY 2012.   The fuel tax revenue funding is being reduced by the State of Illinois. Also, Campton has lost thousands of people who have disconnected, so the rest of us will need to pay the bills. Look at your property tax bill, Campton has already placed a tax line item on it. It is just a matter of time.

3. Campton Hills leaders promised minimal government. But this is no longer true. Campton's leaders are slowly adding ordinances, fees, and permits. They promised that this area would not change and that this new village would be governed with minimal impact. This is no longer true. People moved out in this area because of fewer layers of government, fewer taxes, and not paying fees for everything we do.

The Kane County Board was careful not to implement  unnecessary ordinances and fees for the residents of Kane County. But now, we have a local village board who now impose there personal likes and dislikes on the residents of Campton.
