The Bill And Steve Show

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with RealSatisfied

This really doesn't need any commentary from me.

This was live last night on Engadget and I missed it. I thought maybe some of you may have as well. The video below is just the highlights. You don't have to be a geek to appreciate this. You have two of the most influential people in the computer world together on one stage, talking about their roles in computing history. The editing is great.

It's eight minutes of good stuff.

Edit: Apple will join the S&P100 Index tomorrow. Their market cap today was $100 Billion, twice that of Dell. Microsoft's market cap today was $294 Billion. That's a lot of zeros.

{SVW Hubba}...aka "Tool Boy"...

You and I both know that I am out of my league when it comes to this stuff.

But I am not out of my league by saying it is good to see the camaraderie between these competitors.

It is a strong example of how competitors 'SHOULD' get along :)

TLW...ROAR!

I think these guys are influential in more than just the computer world. Wow, that is quite a collection of "power" on one stage.

Jeff this was way cool. My husband overheard me listening to it and asked for the link. Our teen son (sleeping in now that school's out) will want it too, I sent it to him also. Thank you for posting it.

AH ! Together again for the first time...

It is my understanding that the smiles mask some serious friction over the years.  But these two represent more than a generation of innovation that truly changed the world.

It is interesting to me that I listened to Bill Gates speak of bandwidth for more than a decade without really understanding what he meant until I read "Telecosm" by George Gilder (c 2000) in which his premise was that periodically cultures change when technology or innovation bring the cost of some factor of production to zero. With the industrial revolution (late 19th century) it was horsepower - in the 1950's, electricity - during the 1990's, personal computers - and in the 21st century, the universal availability of bandwidth.  Personal computers developed power and storage capacity because connecting to wide area networks was costly.  Today it is almost free - and server based applications (Web 2.0 apps for example) are now accessible from dumb terminals (read cell phones).  Realtors can access the total MLS database from their Treo or Smartphones today - tomorrow? Use your imagination.

I will count on Jeff to let us know what is coming before it happens.

Talk about two people with imagination and fortitude.  The two of them have changed the world forever in ways we still have yet to conceive and believe.

Did you see the lecture with Bill Gates and Warren Buffett?  It was powerful.

Did you see the ad tha read "The second richest man in the world gives his money to the richest man in the world"?  When Warren Buffet decided to give his money to the Bill and Melinda foundation to distribute.

I watched that show.

Steve Jobs has good reason to love Bill Gates.  If I remember correctly, in about 1997, Bill Gates invested $150,000 in Apple.

Had that not happened, this show might never have happened.

Lots of awkwardness in those 2 chairs. You can tell there’s a lot the neither one wanted to talk about and for some reason Bill seemed more nervous. Thanks for the vid.

Bill did seem more nervous, but I'm not so sure that's not just a comparative analysis. Steve is way comfortable on stage. Next to him, most would appear nervous.
