Do you ever feel that the same message is coming at you from several sources?
Yesterday I saw a billboard that really got my attention:
Recession 101:
"Self-worth beats Net worth"
A tagline was on an email I received:
"Aspire to inspire before you expire."
Then last night while watching TV, an insurance commercial spokesman was talking about hard times and some things we are learning from them:
Fade to a family around the kitchen dining table and the spokesperson said "We're learning it's more important to make meatloaf together at home than to make reservations."
Fade to a group huddled around a tiny television, and the spokesperson said "That it's not as important how big the TV is, but who is watching it with you."
After viewing that commercial, I said to myself - "Shake off this funk about business and our current downturn and look at life with a grateful heart." I am simply going to proceed with business as usual, and attempt to deliver to my clients much more service and attention than they even expect. At the end of the day, we will get through this current slump.
There is an old joke that says a recession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose yours. Hard times make us all think outside the box and make the sound business adjustments we may not have in the peak years.
Hang in there! It's all good!
