TV or no TV..............

By
Home Stager with SPACELiFT HOME STAGING, Greater Vancouver

before.......

after.........

This tiny townhouse was located in an extremely family oriented complex and we needed to show that there was a place to put the tv.....something we don't usually worry about when staging.  When I was planning the staging, I didn't think about tv placement as it was such a tiny living room but laying in bed thinking a few nights before the staging...as we do.....I thought of all the kids playing in the area when we did the consultation and knowing there wasn't a family room to place a tv, it had to be in the living room.

So, front and focal, up went a "mock" flat screen......best of a difficult situation :-)  Needless to say, the property had three offers after the first open house, mission accomplished!

Where did you get a "mock" TV?  It looks very real in the photo.

Nice job!

Some of us hate to put the TV prop above the mantle, but it may be the only spot for one ... your example obviously worked -- congrats on the quck results!

Gorgeous staging.  I think it looks fabulous.  You don't even really notice the TV because everything looks so beautiful.  Great job.

Chrissie is right Lisa. You did such a beautiful job staging that the TV is hardly noticeable, but effective for those who find this important. Job well done!

Lisa, I think it was a good decision to include the TV in the living room. Even though most rooms look better without the TV, it IS a big part of most people's lives and you have shown them a good location for it without taking away from the beautiful setup.

What a difference it made simply painting the fireplace surround white! Love your clean and simple design.

Lisa,

I love the look of this room, beautiful Staging.  Lately every home we have Staged has 2 to 3 focal points to a great room.  Sometimes the only place to put a TV is above the fireplace...just to keep the focal points down to a minimum.  Great job...I like how you incorporated the TV in that room, it's really not that noticeable!!!

Great last minute decision.  Like the others I don't like the look of electronics but people always want to know where the TV is going to go.  The men particularly.  You did a great job-congratualtions!

Lisa, it goes to show that when you use the right scaled furniture you can really make a room feel big.  It looks great. I think you put the tv in the only logical place.  Congrats on a quick sale!

Now that the flat screens  can go on the wall, they are almost a nonissue.  What do you do with the older monstrositiy type TV's that everybody seems to have at least one in a back room?

Hi Lisa, you did the right thing. Always give your clients what they want and you will have a sale. It was a family area and families have tv's. Good decision. Great work.
