SoyGuard - A Green Protection for Your Woods!

By
Home Builder with Standale Lumber and Interiors

I figure if Standale Lumber is going to be getting into this Green Scene I need to be more conscious of using these products myself.

I'm currently in the process of staining my deck and railings at my home. I am going to be using a new product called Soy Guard.

SoyGuard is a Premium Water Repellent & Sealer that comes from a natural soybean oil derivitive. It is non-toxic product with low odor.

I'm currently looking into some Green Stains, also, and will update you with before and after pictures of my deck.

Does anyone else have any experience with SoyGuard?

Buzz - no experience yet but I am awaiting your results as our deck and privacy fence need to be water sealed -- let me know how it works!

Buzz, do you have to remove previous waterproofing?

Gary, good question.Soy Guard is recomended for all new,old and pressure-treated exterior wood surfaces.Including outdoor decks, siding, furniture, sashes, doors and millwork.SoyGuard may be applied to any clean, dry wood surface free of wax, varnish or other coating. My belief would be that it would be ok over a clear older waterproofing

Thanks for the information. Taking care of one of my decks is a project for this summer. I was planning on looking for an environmental product, but now I have a name!

Hey Buzz,

Can I apply that with a hand sprayer or do I need a roller?
