upper-st-clair-rec-centerUpper St. Clair officially opened its $16.5 million recreation center in Boyce Mayview Park on June 13, and the township is hoping it will attract members, as well as new residents.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, "[t]he massive center atop a hill includes a two-story, glass-enclosed lobby, two indoor pools, an outdoor pool, meeting rooms seating up to 240 people, a 10,000-square-foot fitness center, two full-size basketball courts and a 1/8-mile track circling the second level."

Check out the Upper St. Clair website for more information on hours and membership fees.

The recreation center treated me very unfairly when it was time to renew my membership.  They automatically debited my card without any notice.  When I contacted them about this, they would not cooperate with me at all!  They would not consider refunding the money that they had taken for the next month, even though I did NOT renew my membership with them!  (Ryan) did not treat me fairly or with any regard or respect at all.  I would think twice before joining this recreation center!

A frustrated resident

After cancelling my membership, the recreation center continued to debit my card. They made it extremely difficult to correct the matter. To date, they have refused to make it completely right.

It is difficult to get anyone on the phone. They don't like to return phone calls. Once you get someone on the phone, they are unprofessional and downright rude.

In the end, I had to deal with a guy named Steve, out in finance, who was particularly unreasonable.

In any case, my advice is this: watch out with how they deal with your account information. They have an sloppy attitude towards your account information. If they have made a mistake, it is not likely to be remedied, and you will have to deal with a phenomenal amount of attitude along the way.

The recreation center is good, especially if you have a family. But, they don't have great weekend hours. And they maintain the locker rooms fairly poorly.
