Energy Saving Tips = Saving Money

Power down in your home during the summer with these energy saving tips that could save you money.

  • Replace air filters monthly. A well-maintained system runs more efficiently.
  • Closing drapes during the day can reduce the cooling load of a system.
  • Reduce heat producing activities during the day, such as running the dishwasher...run it at night.
  • Do full loads of laundry and dishes to make the most of each cycle.
  • Keep computer equipment off when not in use, and put your computer in sleep mode between work sessions.
  • Flip off the lights and other energy-using devices when you leave a room.
  • Wash clothes with cold water.
  • Clean the lint filter in your dryer after every cycle.
  • Use fans to make to help cool you, so you can raise the thermostat.
  • Look for appliances with the Energy Star label.
  • Get a central air conditioning system with a SRER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) 14 or higher, or a room unit with the Energy Star label.
