4th of July

Just think, Saturday is our Nation's 233rd Birthday

Happy 4th of July!!

Thinking of somewhere to go . . . something to do?  Here's a good list of annual festivities.

4th of July 2009 Events in Portland, Oregon

* Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival - Take the MAX and attend the Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival.  In it's 22nd year, it's the largest blues festival west of the Mississippi!  Once the sun sets, the fireworks begin.

* PGE Park - Catch the Minor League team, the Beavers WIN then stick around for the fireworks.  How Americana is that?  A Baseball game AND fireworks . . . toss in a few hotdogs, and Mom's Apple Pie!

* Oaks Park - Pepsi Fireworks Spectacular!     One of Portland's oldest amusement parks, Oaks Parks with carnival rides and traditions . . . and fireworks!

* Blue Lake Park (NE) - For folks missing Fort Vancouver this year, Blue Lake Park might be a good alternative.

The 'Burbs

Hillsboro:  1)  The C.A.T. Walk and Fun Run 5K  http://www.catwalkfunrun.org/index.html  2) The annual 4th of July Parade, sponsored by the Rotary Club, is the second-largest in the state, and has been going on since 1926! http://www.hillsbororotary.org/

Tigard:  You're Invited to an Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration

Lake Oswego:  Lake Oswego  A day-long event!  http://www.ci.oswego.or.us/documents/July4th2008.pdf

Events Around the Area

St. Paul's Rodeo:  Fun, Fun, FUN!  Watch the bucking broncos, then when sun sets, a good old fashioned fireworks display!   St Paul Rodeo

Fort Vancouver:   4th of July at the Historic Reserve (Fort Vancouver) CANCELLED!  I can NOT believe that this epic tradition is CANCELLED!  Please visit the Fort anyway, take the tour, and please, please PLEASE donate for next year!  This really is THE BEST firework display -- the largest -- west of the Mississippi.

Molalla Buckeroo: Rodeo, carnival rides, barbeques, and of course . . . fireworks  www.molallabuckeroo.com

The Oregon Coast

Astoria, Manzanita, Rockaway Beach, Seaside

TONS of stuff going on at the Beach  http://visittheoregoncoast.com/activities/

Because of Ft. Vancouver's cancellation . . . the other venues will be crowded!  Go early

I can't say I am surprised by the cancellation. I was wondering how many cities were going to be able to pull off fireworks displays.

Doesn't Salem put on a good show and/or shows?  Any cancellations?  If not, maybe they'll be more people at your party this year.

Faily new to the area and could not find a place to watch fire works last year. Thanks for putting this together.
