I am looking for predictions as to what the state legislature will do with regard to a property tax amendment.
As it stands right now, property taxes make up roughly 20% of a new homebuyers monthly outlay toward their home. With the current state of the homestead exemption, identical homes, next door to one and other can have drastically different tax rates. Recent example: neighbor is paying $3600/year (they purchased the home in 2002) Nextdoor neighbor is paying $10500/year (purchased home in 2006).
