Independence Day Trivia

This morning I Googled "Independence Day'.  The first thing to pop up was Find the nearest fireworks display or Independence Day celebration‎.  Not quite what I was looking for.  I did, however find a few facts that I thought were interesting - not mind blowing...  just a few things that made me go 'hmmmm'.

  • The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 2nd, 1976, not on July 4th.
  • John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were both Founding Fathers of the United States.
  • John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were the only two men that signed the Declaration and became President.
  • John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on the 50th anniversary of the United States, July 4th, 1826.
  • In 1980, Independence Day was an unpaid holiday for federal employees.  It became a paid holiday in 1938.

I'll be sitting somewhere along the street on Hwy92 near Roswell High School to see the fireworks tonight.
Hope to see you there!
