I revisited The Byodo-in Temple during my latest trip to Hawaii. It was a rainy, overcast day which seemed to enhance the peace and tranquility of the temple and it's surrounding garden and koi ponds. I hope you'll visit the next time you are in Hawaii (Island of Oahu).

The Byodo-In Temple situated at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park was established on June 7, 1968 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. The Byodo-In is a replica of the 950 year-old Buddhist temple in Japan, which was converted from a villa in the year 1053. Byodo-in Temple means Temple of Equality.

It is a lovely place to visit and provides tranquility away from the frenzied world in Honolulu. The koi, fish, in the pond, have been digitally enhanced for artistic purposes.

Hi Charlie—I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I've been drawn to this place many times, but wasn't able to photograph it the way I wanted until this last time and I still didn't do it justice.

Linda - that was absolutely beautiful!  Thank you so much for sharing.  When we were kids this was called armchair traveling.  Back then it was done with words and imagination ... now it's so much better.  Thanks again!

Hi Carol—Thank you so much!  It's good to know you enjoyed it. Armchair traveling has changed over the years, but I enjoy it no matter what form it takes. Have a great week.

Hi Ann—I hope you get back to Hawaii soon too. There is so much to do... I usually do fewer things when I travel in order to maximize the experience. Hawaii is a place that offers so much culturally, yet beckons rest and relaxation... the best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

Hey Lil' Sistah—I know that laugh enywhere... I knew you wouldn't diappoint <GRIN> Later, Gator
