Religious or In a Relationship?

"People always think that religion and business do not go together. I totally agree - “religion” causes all sorts of problems.

People always think Christians are religious nuts - not true. Christians aren’t religious - we have a “relationship” with God. That’s all he wants - a relationship with you. I talk to God like a best friend. I spent time telling him how I feel, what I would like to see happened, praying for YOUR success and more."     Dwan Bent-Twyford

Thanks to Dwan for the differentiation between religion and Christianity. People tell me I am religious - I tell them I am in a relationship. People acknowledge that there is a God and if asked want to (& think that they are going to Heaven). Yet, they have no idea how that would happen (Or think they are "good" and "good" people go to Heaven).  They also do not know God or anything about Him and yet want to spend eternity with Him.  Why?  They do not want to spend  their short life on earth "with" Him.
Get to know God, study His word - so much to learn.  And pray - talk to Him and ask for your eyes to be opened and for understanding.

Kathleen,

I am featuring this in Walking by Faith In the Rain group. There is a hugh difference in being religious and just plain loving and serving the Lord.At one time I was religious but got out of that. The pharisees were religious!

Mike - thanks for the feature.  Yes the Pharisees were religious and very sincere - just sincerely wrong. Jesus really got after them for that and Nicodemus wanted more. He got it - he just needed to go and talk to Jesus.

Kathleen,

That's so true and exciting. My friend Dana and I believe that our business hsa been given to us so that we can witness and simply so God's love to others.  In knocking on doors you can't believe how many "semi's" get driven through!

Congrats on your feature.

Linda, I too take my faith into all areas of my life. I am not in their face but I also in no way hide or shy away from the fact that I love and serve God. Many times I find myself saying "as a Christian - I can not" in answer to their somewhat shady request to conceal. twist etc. Yes REALTORS have ethical guidelines but my guidelines from God supersede all others. ( & are higher).

Very interesting Kathleen.  I certainly attribute all of my success and my failures to the good Lord.  Wouldn't be who or where I am today had it not been for Him.  I understand about business being a ministry of sorts.  Being able to provide great service that helps people move on to better things in their lives is a gift!

It really bothers me when people say I'm religious, but then I remember, that's a great open door for me to share how I KNOW the Lord. :)
