Does anyone know about NABPOP?

By

I have been hearing this question for just a while. Do you know about NABPOP? Should I do this? Will I stop getting BPO's if I don't? These are the questions I am getting. Now I really don't know much about this designation but it seems that emortage is asking people to sign up for the clas for over $200 dollars a pop. This would be ok as long as it is legit.

Has anyone here taken this? If so was it worth it?

I took my CDPE course and felt it was worth every penny but I just don't want to throw the limited amount of funds I have on something that is not going to be productive. I would love any input on this. Thanks ahead of time!!

I think it is ridiculous to take this class if you have been doing BPOs for some time and have established a working relationship with some BPO providers. I have 10 years experience and could teach the course.  M Ed degree too!  You will not lose orders if you have been getting them in on time with minimal corrections. BPOs have changed so much in the past few years with the Fannie Mae and Freddie's adjustments, having to look up original prices and change dates, extra photos, and comments on why you did what you did.  I can see why some newbies will get certified, but many of us have picked up what we need by hanging in there and learning. The major providers have online "how to" guides and they answer questions via phone or email if you have them. The best class I ever took was an introductory appraisal class at my local community College.

Thanks Janice. I wouldn't have done this but it made me start wondering by listening to some colleagues. It seems everyone in my area is doing "BPO's". Whether they know how to do them or not. I have spent the last 4 years doing them and then I know that some Realtors are getting tons of them and have only just signed on. I always have great turn around and only a extreme few come back for corrections. I am just going to keep on doing what I have been!

I am a NABPOP certified member. I learned from the certification study course and to all my new BPO applications I state that I am certified my NABOP.

I think that I will sign up just so that new applications I send in will have the designation on it. I do 40 to 60 a month and know how to do them very well but it would be great to get a certificate!
