What Kind Of Treasures Have You Found...In Your Owner Oucciped Homes?

Mortgage and Lending with Liberty Bank of Arkansas

I am receiving more calls to work on owner occupied homes. One of the FUN things for me is to go on a treasure hunt through the owners home looking for goodies I can use. Although I have to admit I felt a little strange doing this at first, but I soon got over that. Now I can't wait to start my hunt!

Here are a couple of my finds on a home I staged this week.

This little girls room was cute but the bedding was well used

This was the treasure I found in the attic...brand new never opened bedding

I needed to update the master bed, it was feeling a little worn also.

I found this duvet in the closet

When I find something I can use it's like someone giving me a gift, I get so excited and can't wait to use it!

Happy Hunting

Hi Donna,  I love that new bedding for the little 's room!  It's always amazing to me the treasures people have in their homes, especially artwork in the closets, garage or under the bed.  Glad you found some good surprises on this staging job!

Donna, I have been in some very hot attics and dirty garages where I found some great things. You never know if you don't ask. Fabulous job in transforming those rooms.

Donna, why'd you take Sophia's name down.  I liked it up there.  Otherwise, lovely!

I love the treasure hunts-my assistant is better than me-she is really good at it! Love the two bedding treasures you found. Sophia was too personal and I think you did the right thing storing it!  Great work Staging Lady!

Diana, This job was fun, I had lots of things to work with. It was a great hunt!

Liz, Hot attic...yes, I couldn't hunt very long at a time. These homeowners are already transferred. I didn't have anyone to ask what they had. I really had to go on a hunt on my own.

Barbara, Sorry, names are too personal for staging, and little Sophia has moved on to another state, because daddy was transferred.

Cathy, Thanks, I asked to have the frame removed also..I had to settle for just removing the name.

We love finding treasures in the strangest places when staging or doing a redesign.  One that stands out was an old trunk we found in a dusty unused garage that made a perfect coffee table, and in the same job we also found a neat metal garden ornamental fence piece that we used in a corner and it looked like high-end sculpture!

Treasures indeed!  What great improvements you have made Donna!  It is always fun to witness the owner's excitement when re-purposing their treasured items!

Donna, that's what makes owner-occupied homes fun.  I was staging the condo of an elderly gentleman whose wife had passed away.  His bed had only pillows and sheets, no bedspread or covers.  I found some new linens and blankets in his closet that we fashioned into a "folded coverlet that we could place at the foot of the bed. He was pleased because he had only to place the new "coverlet" on the bed when the condo was being shown.

Great job Donna!  I love the hunt as well, but usually don't find new stuff!  You really lucked out with these finds!  Hope the sale is quick!

Hi Donna,

Your treaure hunting expeditions I call the old STOOP AND SNOOP.  I reserve my snoop time, with the seller's permission of course, for after they leave and when they come back they sometimes don't even recognize their own accessories and/or furnishings.  Some items were so rat-holed that they hadn't seen them in years. Lottsa fun!

Virtually all of our stagings are vacant homes, but that rare occasion when we get to work with existing furnishings and accessories can be wonderful!  (It can also be horrible.) Finding something the homeowner bought for the bedroom, has always used in the bedroom and will always use in the bedroom and using it in a living room or family room usually surprises the heck out of the homeowner and what seemed old seems new again.
