Mission Valley Condos, San Diego CA: Friars Hollow

Real Estate Agent with HomeSmart Realty West CalBRE #01458572

If you leave a comment, Jim will visit your blog and leave a comment.Friars Hollow is a condominium complex at the far west end of Mission Valley in San Diego, California, which means that it is within walking distance of Sea World and Fiesta Island in Mission Bay.

There are 32 units in Friars Hollow ranging in size from 768 square feet to 1,139 square feet, with floor plans from one bedroom and one bathroom to two bedrooms and two bathrooms. To the best of my knowledge, all units have laundry facilities.

HOA fees are $275 to $310 per month.

As of July 1, 2009, there was only one unit for sale in Friars Hollow:

  • 5750 Friars Road, Unit 106 - $332,000
    1,018 square feet
    2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms

With only thirty-two units, finding one in Friars Hollow can be difficult. Prior to Unit 106 coming on the market in January 2009, the most recent sales were two units back in 2006.

Friars Hollow is #5 on the map below.

Hi Jim: First unit listed since 2006 - I guess that would qualify this complex as exclusive!

Hey, Jim - If you don't have a lot of pictures of the complex because of its small size, I would say include some pictures of Mission Valley and nearby attractions such as Sea World, Mission Bay, Old Town, etc.

Hey, Matt - Several of these condominium complexes in Mission Valley were built at the same time, or shortly after, the upscale Fashion Valley Mall was built. It's still an upscale mall, but since then Mission Valley has also seen the construction of Qualcomm Stadium; Mission Valley Center mall; many car dealerships, restaurants, and nightclubs; as well as many more condominium complexes. A lot of people with foresight in the 1960s-1980s saw what was happening in Mission Valley and banked -- pun intended -- on getting in on the ground floor -- another intended pun -- and watching their properties increase in value of their course of their 20-year mortgage. They were right. Many of them bought their properties for $20,000 and now, 30 years later, see those same properties, even in a poor market, worth $200,000 or more, not a bad appreciation.
