Here at Schuelke Plumbing, we want to help you save money and prevent costly sewer problems from arising in your home or office. You may not realize that you can play a part in keeping your sewer system in good repair.

Keep grease out of your drains. This includes grease from bacon, hamburger, and anything else you may be preparing. Instead, pour the grease into a milk carton and let it harden. Then it can be taken out to the trash. You can also pour the grease into newspaper and then take it out to the trash.

Be careful about what you flush down your toilets. The only paper product you should ever flush is toilet paper. When it comes to handy wipes, tampons, napkins, diapers, and paper towels, throw them into the trash.

Your garbage disposal is not intended for things such as chicken bones, watermelon rinds, potato peelings, and corn kernals, because they do not break down well enough to pass through the lateral lines. These items should also be thrown into the trash.

Hazardous waste, such as cleaning fluid, paint, and anti-freeze must never be poured down the drain. Check to see if your city has a hazardous waste disposal program to dispose of these things.

Also, clean out your bathroom drains regularly to get rid of hair and other debris.

Your sewer system can be kept clean and in proper working order for a much longer period of time if you keep these ideas in mind at all times. Be sure to call Schuelke Plumbing for all of your Los Angeles area plumbing and sewer repairs and replacement.
