Color Blind is like Hearing Loss?

When it comes to picking out colors, some people are better than others at this task.  I really hate giving my clients advice when it comes to painting and choosing the right colors.  With some, they pick the best colors and It works just fine... For others, it is a nightmare.

I have a Theory!  I think being color blind is like hearing loss, because each person sees and hears the same things a little differently.

For example,  My brother and his wife paint the inside of their house every other year. When they go to the store they choose colors they like, with the hopes it will go well with their furniture.  Then, they choose more colors for other rooms in the house.  The problem is, they do not check to see if the different colors will coordinate and blend well with each other.  What you get is an odd sense that doesn't feel right or look right!  What you REALLY want to ask is "WHAT the @#*%" and "Who picked these Colors?".

The last thing you want is for them to re-paint.  The homeowners will get the same results.  I am not an Interior Decorator or home designer, but I DO know when something doesn't look right, and so will your prospective buyers!  Your goal is to make the house inviting and irresistable.

If you have clients in this predicament, encourage them to hire a professional.  This way they can still get the satisfaction of having done the work themselves, and it will turn out Great.  You will also have a warm and inviting living space instead of an odd, cold and disconnected home.

A simple paint job, can spell the difference between success and Failure!  Keep this in Mind.

Phil, I've seen several homes like this. What really doesn't work is different color carpeting in each room. Good tip. Thanks.

Michael,  I think this is due to a bad color scheme in their minds.  Their intentions are correct, but their concept of color is 'Off"  Thanks for th Comment!
