When someone talks to us or when we talk to them, we need to make sure our communication is proficient. Especially being in sales, if we are not paying close attention to the conversation on both ends, we can be misleading or we can mislead. No matter what industry, group, public speaking events, talk shows, clubs or whatever speaking even you may have, there are certain principles that always apply. The best place to start learning how to be more proficient with your communication is yourself! Below are some tips to help you be more efficient and proficient in your speaking whether your communicating with someone personal or a business discussion.
Learn- Learning to be effective in your speaking is essential. You need to constantly practice what you have learned and what you know. Speaking involves thinking, knowledge and skill, practicing this will help you to have effective communication. We also need to learn to listen to ourselves and others, which brings me to the next point. |
Just Listen- Listening to the sound of our own voice when we are speaking can help us be more confident. Nearly every aspect of our lives could improve if we were all better listeners. Most times we only listen to what we want to hear or don't let ourselves or others finish their speaking before we interrupt. |
Eye Contact- Keeping eye contact is very important when talking to others. It is the cheapest, most effective way to connect to others, whether it is a friend, family member, business person or a audience your speaking too. It is very important to show your focused by keeping that eye contact. I do know for some it is hard to keep looking around at a crowd and some do get stage fright. You can look around the room at your audience while speaking, once in awhile and then concentrate on looking at some people you know and pretend your talking to them, that will help as well. |

One last thing always listen to how others communicate, this will make the meetings and speaking more enjoyable and fun as well, while being educational. |
