Okay - It is Sunday afternoon and I have a short moment to sit and blog about something that I have wanted to share for awhile.....Even though it is Sunday I have already worked a full day, answered multiple phone calls, yelled at a contractor, revised a negotiating HUD1, "held the hand" of an impatient buyer, kept a selling agent from driving my team crazy, set 2 listing appointments, replaced a yard sign mangled by the landscapers, still managed to keep my 3 kids exceedingly happy, still went to church, and the day is not over.......
How many of you can relate?
You know.... it never fails that you are in Wal-Mart the moment you finally receive that phone call from a bank loss mitigator on a short sale that has stretched out 90+ days....they call just as your 9 year old is belly aching about needing (his version of wanting) the latest video game, your one year old is crying uncontrollably, and your two year old just took off down the frozen food isle.
You know....it never fails that you wait at a property for a contractor for 3+ hours because he calls you every 30 minutes to tell you he will be there in 10. I have changed many diapers on the back of a truck because the kid just couldn't wait anymore - but the contractor had to stop and get lunch.
You know....it never fails that the moment you walk out of the house for a family day that a contract comes in the fax machine with URGENT stamped all over it.
You know....it never fails that you go somewhere as a family and you realize that you are "just around the corner" from one of your properties and you need to "stop for just a second." My kids all know that no matter where we go - there will be a Southeastern Group team DETOUR. We couldn't even go to Florida for our last family vacation without having to stop to check on properties along the way.
You know....it never fails that the moment your kid scores the winning goal your cell phone rang, or a text or email came in and you forgot to turn off the ringer.
You know....it never fails that my cell phone rings while I am in the shower and I come out to see my nine year old on my phone trying to negotiate a deal. (shhhh- don't tell the REC that he is my un-licensed assistant)
You know.....it never fails that you have that one client that expects you to be super-woman even if that means meeting their demands the second they call and doing most or your work at 3 in the AM.
How many repeats of Elmo Loves the Beach have you heard from the back-seat as you drive from appointment to appointment? How many times have you had to say "sorry about the noise...I have my kids with me today?"
You know....I would never trade what I do in the world.... I love my profession.
BUT MORE - I love my family for their patience, unwavering support, their team attitude, their belief in me, their passion for the same goal that I have ...... a beautiful future!
No matter whether you are a mom, a dad, a grandparent, or the friend of an agent balancing a passion with a family --- you have probably observed or done some of the above.
Please share your tale --- Thank you for letting me indulge again.
