My New Hummingbird Friends

Real Estate Agent with Donna Homes, powered by JPAR - 0480809

Alyssa got her Daddy a Hummingbird feeder for Father's Day, however we just hung it a few days ago.

Look at the visitor we had!  The Hummingbird is actually blurry because of the speed of the flapping of the wings, but I tried to get a picture as in-focus as possible.

How do they find the feeders?  The internet says they cannot smell it, and to not worry about coloring the water because they can't see it.  How did these hummingbirds know the feeder was there?  They appeared within an hour of putting it out in the tree.

Donna - They are amazing little creatures. I have a feeder on my deck and have many more this year than last.

What great pictures!  We have one outside that James gave me for Valentine's day one year and I love to see them, they're all over out here.

Have a great night!

It's a treat to see a hummingbird  - they're so fast the sighting can be over in a second...

I love my feeders because I can sit and watch the little birds chase each other.

I always thought it was the red color that attracted the hummingbirds.  If they can't see it or smell it, then I have no idea how they find it.

All my feeders have the red flowers and I thought that was what attracted them.  I'd always heard that red attracts, them, but it doesn't look like your feeder had red (or is the tip red)...Anyway, I'm sure your daughter was thrilled.  I always love to see the hummingbirds come!

John, I have never had one before, so I wasn't sure what to expect.

Kathleen, That's great!

Brian, I don't think I had ever actually really seen one until it stopped at the feeder.

Maria, They're so fast!

Valorie, We had a big one and a little one out tonight, but haven't seen more than that.

Christine, I was told to color it too, but the internet, on more than one site, says not to color it as it does nothing... so I just left it.

Margaret, Thanks!  It's just a Canon A710 IS with a 6X zoom.

Chanda, The tip is just a rubber orange/red color, almost like an eraser top.

Kenneth, That's why I asked how they know it's there...  I have no idea!

Eric, Must be nice to have maintenance free feeding. I have to refil this thing every few days!

Donna - Great picture. Humming birds are so quick you need to be fast with the camera or they will be gone.
