We are in the business to meet as many "customers" as we can. For me, my customers are Real Estate Agents, and for my agents, their customers are home buyers and/or sellers.
My mindset is to look for ways to grow my customers business. If it is simple and easy, it can be done more consistantly.
I have always made a point to meet at places that have the potential to generate leads for my agents. I look for places that have a good steady traffic of customers. I find Starbucks to be one of the best and my personal favorite. They have non-stop traffic, that is slow moving with a good mix of customers.
I look for a table that is close the the counter that will allow people to overhear our conversations. As we all know, when you are standing in line waiting for your caffeine fix, you can't help but pick up on conversations all around you. This is the beauty of meeting in a place like this. It always brings a smile to my face when someone overhears our conversation and then asks us for a card, because they are looking for a house, property, etc... Ofcourse, we always get contact information in return, either a card or have the prospect write their information on the back of one of our business cards.
This is such a great way to maximize a business meeting. I don't know anyone who would be upset by being interrupted because someone wants you to help them find a house. : )
If I am going to go out in public, I am always thinking of ways to market myself. The great thing about marketing is... you don't have to be good at it, you just have to do it. It is a numbers game and you will generate sales. As you continue to develop your skills you will see that you generate sales more often.
